Facts about Hearing Loss

  • Hearing loss is often diagnosed when a person struggles to hear 25 dB in at least one ear during a hearing test. Deafness is commonly defined by profound hearing loss. People with profound hearing loss can hear a minimum of 95 decibels.
  • Some people feel that one ear hears more clearly than the other. Unilateral hearing loss refers to a loss of hearing in only one ear. Approximately 69% of Europe’s hearing aid users own two devices.
